About trees

Within the Araliaceae family, Polyscias guilfoylei is a tropical shrub that produces fine branches and layered foliage. Its overall character comes from the leaves, stems, and growth rhythm that make the plant recognizable. Differences between young and mature leaves are part of its appeal, and every leaf does not need to look the same. Leaf color, thickness, and size may change with the plant's age, light levels, and root health.

To develop a balanced canopy, provide fairly bright filtered light, consistent moisture, and regular pruning to maintain the form. Check the growing medium before every watering and avoid moving the plant abruptly from shade into intense sun. It works well as a potted shrub that creates a soft vertical structure. If the plant must be moved or its conditions changed, do so gradually and wait for new growth before assessing its final color and form. When old leaves become damaged, cut them with clean tools and allow time to observe new growth before changing the care routine.
