About trees
Philodendron bipinnatifidum belongs to the Araceae family and is a tropical foliage plant in the philodendron group, with climbing and self-heading forms depending on the variety. Its deeply cut, lobed leaves create a full canopy and a silhouette that reads clearly from a distance. Young plants may not yet show their mature form, so assess them by observing continued growth rather than only their initial appearance. Leaf color, thickness, and size may change with the plant's age, light levels, and root health.
Suitable growing conditions include filtered bright light, an airy growing medium, and watering when the surface begins to dry. Check the medium before every watering and avoid moving the plant abruptly from shade into intense sun. It suits collections focused on leaf shape, leaf color, and the rhythm of new growth. If the plant must be moved or its conditions changed, do so gradually and wait for new growth before assessing its final color and form. Rotate the pot or adjust the direction of the shoots periodically so the plant receives light evenly without forcing growth.
