Philodendron 'Rojo Congo' gets its character from being a tropical foliage plant in the philodendron group, with climbing and self-heading forms depending on the variety, and belongs to the Araceae family. Its distinctive feature is that pink, red, or copper tones are especially visible on the tips and young leaves before changing as the leaves mature. Young plants may not yet show their mature form, so assess them by observing continued growth rather than only their initial appearance. Leaf color, thickness, and size may change with the plant's age, light levels, and root health.
For long-term cultivation, provide filtered bright light, an airy growing medium, and water when the surface begins to dry. Check the medium before every watering and avoid moving the plant abruptly from shade into intense sun. It suits collections focused on leaf shape, leaf color, and the rhythm of new growth. Keeping the area around the base or clump clean and leaving room for air or water to move through will help new leaves unfurl fully and make the plant easier to maintain. Leave enough space around the plant for its mature shape so that care and cleaning can be carried out without disturbing the roots.
