Micranthemum glomeratum is a small stem aquatic plant that branches densely and forms a mass of fine green foliage. Its leaves are arranged close together at the nodes. With regular trimming, it produces side shoots and becomes a dense clump, making it suitable for low mounds or slopes in the foreground and midground. Plants transitioning from emersed growth may have different original leaves and shed them while acclimating, so observe the new shoots that appear after the roots have established. Internode length and clump density help indicate whether enough light is reaching the plant. If the lower area becomes too dark, basal leaves may deteriorate and the clump may lift away from the substrate.
Provide even light, consistent carbon dioxide and nutrients, and stable water quality. Trim the tips before the clump becomes so dense that it shades the lower leaves, then replant healthy cuttings where you want to fill out the form. Leave small gaps between clumps for water flow and remove trimmings after pruning to reduce sediment accumulation. It works well for connecting open areas with taller aquatic plant groups, as its height can be controlled through trimming frequency. Observe the color and size of new shoots before increasing fertilizer or light, and adjust one factor at a time so the cause is clear if growth stops or lower leaves begin to deteriorate.
