Gymnocalycium Cristate Form is a Gymnocalycium cactus whose growing tip spreads into a fan-shaped crest instead of developing from a single point. The waves and ridges therefore differ from plant to plant, while the exact species has not been confirmed. Cristate Form describes the growth pattern, not a botanical species or cultivar name. The ribs, areoles, and skin color should continue consistently along the crest. A healthy plant produces new tissue along the fan edge without soft or darkened areas. Place it in a bright location and increase sun gradually so the crest receives even light. Use an airy, fast-draining growing medium and water only when it is dry throughout.
