Epipremnum pinnatum gets its character from being a tropical vine that roots at the nodes and climbs readily along surfaces; it belongs to the Araceae family. The features that make this plant distinctive are its leaves, stem, and growth rhythm, which together create its recognizable form. Young plants may not yet show their mature shape, so assess them by observing continued growth rather than only their initial appearance. Leaf color, thickness, and size may change with age, light levels, and root health.
Successful cultivation depends on bright indirect light, an airy growing medium, and a stake or support to climb if larger leaves are desired. Check the medium before every watering and avoid moving the plant abruptly from shade into intense sun. It can be displayed either as a hanging plant or as a climber to create vertical lines. Use actual growth as your guide, adjusting light, water, and nutrients gradually to maintain the desired form. Leave enough space around the plant for its mature shape so that care and cleaning can be carried out without disturbing the roots.
