Bacopa salzmannii 'Purple' gets its character from being a succulent-stem aquatic plant with opposite leaves that produces new shoots under suitable conditions; it belongs to the Plantaginaceae family. Its submerged leaves can develop purple-red tones that contrast with surrounding green plants. Young plants may not yet show their mature form, so assess them by observing continued growth rather than only their initial appearance. Its submerged form may differ from its emersed form, and leaf replacement after planting in an aquarium is a normal adjustment process for many aquatic plants.
Begin care by planting the stems slightly apart, providing consistent light and complete nutrients, then trimming and replanting the tips to increase density. Keep water quality stable, remove fallen leaves, and avoid changing several lighting or water parameters at once. It suits the midground to background where a clearly defined colored clump is desired. Use actual growth as your guide, adjusting light, water, and nutrients gradually to maintain the desired form.
