Alocasia × amazonica 'Bambino' is a compact Alocasia in the Araceae family, ranging from tabletop size to a small floor plant. Its leaves are narrow and arrowhead-shaped, with a smooth dark-green surface, fairly straight margins, and sharply contrasting silvery-white veins. The undersides are purple. As several leaves develop, they form an upright, orderly clump from the rhizome. Its appeal lies in the proportions of the narrow leaves and prominent veins, without requiring the plant to become large.
Grow it in a bright room away from direct sun. Use a foliage-plant medium amended with an airy material such as perlite so it remains moist but not saturated. Maintain warmth and fairly high humidity during active growth. Water consistently when the surface begins to lose moisture, then reduce watering clearly when temperatures are cool or growth slows. Keep the pot away from cold drafts and direct air-conditioning because the narrow leaves can lose their freshness easily. If moving it from shade to a brighter position, increase light gradually to reduce the risk of bleaching or scorch.
