
On January 19, 2023, Mr. Sanong Malaikwan, the District Chief of Borabue, paid a visit to Thai Tissue Culture International Company, a leading producer and distributor of tissue-cultured plant seedlings located in Wang Chai Subdistrict, Bor Buer District, Maha Sarakham Province. The purpose of the visit was to observe the production process and discuss strategies for developing sweet potatoes as a major economic crop in the district.
During the visit, the District Chief received a detailed tour of the company's operations, starting from the tissue culture laboratory, the heart of the plant seedling production process, to the rooting room where seedlings are nurtured before being transplanted. Additionally, there was a fruitful exchange of ideas with company executives and staff regarding the economic potential of sweet potatoes and the challenges faced in their development.
The District Chief outlined a policy and direction for crop development with a focus on sweet potatoes, aiming to elevate sweet potatoes into a billion-baht crop, generating sustainable income for local farmers. He also emphasized the importance of government-private sector collaboration to enhance the quality and international recognition of sweet potato production.
